The Scène ouverte contest is for you! Juste pour rire is giving you the chance to perform on stage at our 2027 festivals and bring your comedy to audiences at some of Europe’s biggest comedy festivals, a prize package valued at approximately $10,000!

→ STEP 1 – REGISTRATION PERIOD | Until February 27, 2026

Fill out the registration form and send us your 3-minute video before February 27, 2026.

→ STEP 2 – PRE-SELECTIONS | March 2 – April 3, 2026

All submitted videos will be reviewed by a jury. If your profile is selected, you will be contacted by April 7, 2026.

→ STEP 3 – QUARTERFINALS | May 30, 2026

Selected comedians will perform an 8-minute set on the Foutoir de Terrebonne stage on May 30, 2026. 

The 8 comedians advancing to the next stage will be contacted by the Scène ouverte Juste pour rire team after the jury deliberation.

→ STEP 4 – SEMIFINALS | July 16, 2026

Semifinalists will perform the same 8-minute set in front of a new jury during  Juste pour rire Montréal. 

The 4 comedians advancing to the Grand Finale will be contacted on July 17, 2026.

Contest Rules

  • No registration fees
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must hold Canadian citizenship
  • Must have at least 16 minutes of material (or 2 distinct sets)
  • Must not be under a production contract for a solo comedy show, nor have granted an option or right of first negotiation to another producer for such a show
  • Must be available for all stages of the contest (May 30, July 16 & 18, 2026)
  • Eligibility: Contest open to French-speaking comedians only.

→ STEP 5 – GRAND FINALE | July 18, 2026

The 4 finalists will present a second 8-minute set as the opening act for the FIFHR show alongside comedians from France, Belgium, and Switzerland, during  Juste pour rire Montréal. 

The grand winner will be chosen by the jury the same evening and announced at the end of the show.
